Economy

Cooperatives, church-linked enterprises, and spending effects that have a published method.

This is the easiest category to inflate, so the bar is higher. A cooperative, a printing press, a farm, a microfinance scheme, or a bookshop owned by a church can be recorded as an enterprise: what it is, where it is, and any figure the source actually publishes (members, turnover, loans disbursed).

Broad claims — that churches contribute a named share of GDP, or a round trillion naira — need a method: what was included, what was left out, which year, and who calculated it. Without that, Churchlist will not publish the number as a fact. Repeating a conference speech is not a method.

Spending by members as private consumers is not automatically a church contribution. Tithes, offerings, and personal businesses need to be distinguished. If a paper estimates local economic effect, the entry should describe the estimate as an estimate and link the paper.

When in doubt, leave the value unpublished and keep the note as a lead for a later sourced row.
