Education

Schools, universities, seminaries, scholarships, and literacy work founded, funded, or run by churches in Nigeria.

Churches in Nigeria have founded primary schools, secondary schools, teacher-training colleges, seminaries, and universities. This category is for those institutions and for programmes whose main product is learning: literacy classes, scholarship schemes tied to schooling, and theological colleges.

A usable entry names a school or a counted set of schools, says who founded or runs them, and says where and when the count was made. A university and the primary schools owned by the same denomination are separate entries, unless the source itself publishes one combined figure and says how it was built.

What does not belong is a pulpit claim that the church “owns most schools,” a social-media graphic with no publisher, or a number that mixes campuses, classrooms, and pupils. Enrolment, number of schools, and number of universities answer different questions. They need different rows.

A finished entry names the source — a yearbook, an education-ministry publication, a denomination’s report, or a paper — links it when a public URL exists, quotes the figure, and dates it. Until that exists, the category page is a definition, not a national tally.
