About Churchlist

Churchlist.ng is an independent information project about Christian life in Nigeria. This version of the site does two jobs.

The first is a ledger. It records how churches contribute to the country: schools and universities, hospitals and clinics, welfare, jobs, enterprise, disaster relief, and community work such as water and peacebuilding. The point of the ledger is to replace round numbers and pulpit claims with entries a reader can check.

The second is a directory of Bible sellers — bookshops, distributors, publishers, and online shops — so someone looking for a Bible in a particular state can find a named place, a phone number, and a date when the listing was last verified.

What a fact needs

A number is not published as a Churchlist finding unless it has a category, a geography, a period, an as-of date, a source name, a source URL, and a citation. Rows marked placeholder are format samples shipped with the site. They are blank on purpose. They are not research.

The same rule protects the directory. A shop submitted through the form stays hidden until it is reviewed. A sample badge means the address is not real.

What this site is not

Churchlist is not a denomination, not a congregation, and not a Bible publisher. A statistic is not a ranking of churches. A listing is not a statement about doctrine or product quality. The disclaimer says this in full.

The earlier site

Churchlist previously ran on WordPress and published essays, including a large set of church-history articles, alongside pages about the Nigerian Christian community. This rebuild does not silently keep those essays. Old addresses are listed in a redirect map so each one can be pointed at a new page when a real replacement exists. Until then, an unmapped address returns “page not found” rather than a guess.

How to help

Editorial work on this site is credited to Churchlist. We do not invent a named expert to stand behind a number that has no source.
